Position Description

Responsible for the overall successful implementation and operation of selected clinical information systems applications (i.e., Nursing, Laboratory, Microbiology, Anatomic Pathology, Pharmacy, Radiology, Departmental, and Order Entry) in a timely manner. Serves as the day-to-day contact person during the installation phase and for ongoing maintenance for selected clinical information systems applications. Builds dictionaries. Documents, tracks, and follows up on all reported problems, enhancement requests, and system change requests. Develops custom user menus and custom reports. Designs and provides training programs for clinical users in the use of Hospital Information system hardware and software. Conducts software testing of updates/new releases. Analyzes and provides support for software updates/new releases. Acts as a resource person to assist with problems and questions pertaining to the computer system. Assists with management of network hardware and software, Monitors hardware and software security to ensure appropriate use and/or access. Runs back up procedures for all data files.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor of Science degree or Associates degree in nursing required. Five years work experience in the given clinical field and with two years work experience in clinical information systems applications is preferred. In lieu of a clinical degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science with two years work experience in clinical information systems applications or an Associates degree in computer science with four years work experience in clinical information systems applications may be substituted.

Experience

Knowledge and experience with network hardware is highly desirable. Experience with the following software is highly desirable: Windows 2000/2003, Windows NT operating system and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with other types of software will be evaluated for equivalency. Experience with Crystal report writing software preferred. Must become proficient in Eclinical works physician practice /EMR software.
