Hospital Foundation Raises $40,000 for Paramedic Program
July 8, 2010
With lead gifts from Littleton Chevrolet & Crosstown Motors, and New England Wire Technologies, the Littleton Regional Hospital Charitable Foundation raised nearly $40,000 to purchase a new vehicle for LRHs Paramedic Intercept Program.
LRH's team of paramedics provides 24-7 care, three hundred sixty five days per year to offer advanced level intercepts to area Emergency Medical Service providers. When the paramedics are not on duty, they work in LRHs emergency department, intensive care unit, medical or surgical units providing care to patients. Additionally, LRH does not bill for the service provided by the paramedics, committing more than $250,000 annually to support this community service.
The paramedic vehicle is specially equipped to deliver a higher level of medical care to the patient before he or she gets to the hospital. Combined with the paramedic service providers it maximizes the chances of survival and improved outcomes for patients.
Board Chair of the LRH Charitable Foundation, Dr. John Sauter states, "The LRH Charitable Foundation raises funds for the benefit of Littleton Regional Hospital. This year, despite a weakened economy, we raised funds to support several hospital programs and services including The Century Fund, a permanent endowment fund; scholarships for LRH's nursing staff, the Gale Medical Library's healthcare literacy program, equipment needs for the medical surgical unit, and the paramedic intercept program."
